SCDC operates the Summer Tech Camp to develop youth leadership and college preparation skills. This program utilizes project-based learning to nurture curiosity, creativity and collaboration to develop college preparation skills and increase academic success in science, technology, engineering and math. The goal of this program is to increase the interest and skills of youth in science and technology.
And yes, this camp is free of cost.

Inventors Workshop
Become a real inventor! You’ll get to imagine, design, and build fun new creations using cool tools and materials. From making your own gadgets to solving fun challenges, this hands-on class lets you explore your ideas and bring them to life.

Rube Goldberg
In this fun and wacky class, kids will build crazy chain-reaction machines inspired by Rube Goldberg! You’ll use everyday objects like dominoes, balls, ramps, and string to complete simple tasks in the most over-the-top way possible.

Gadgets and Gizmos
Become a creative inventor and artist! You’ll use tools like rotary tools, glue guns, wires, and gesso to build your own one-of-a-kind creations. With mixed media and lots of imagination, every project is open-ended and totally personalized—no two are the same!
It’s all about making art that moves, lights up, or just looks super cool.

Java Basics 101:
Jump into the world of coding with Java! Learn how to build simple programs, create logic with loops and conditionals, and explore the foundations of one of the world’s most popular programming languages.

Dash + Dot Robotics
Kids team up with two friendly robots to learn the basics of coding and problem-solving! Using easy-to-learn apps, you’ll program Dash and Dot to move, light up, dance, and even talk.
