Emma Hernandez is the Chief Executive Officer of the Southeast Community Development Corporation. Prior to that she was the Chief Operating Officer beginning 2017. During her time as CEO, Emma shifted SCDC’s program curriculum so that it includes advanced STEM programming for students from 2nd to 12th grade and brought greatly needed resources; such as tutoring for school-age children, free Chromebook, and free hotspots. As CEO, Emma is dedicated to ensure that SCDC’s mission drives every program so that the Southeast Los Angeles residents are healthy, educated and productive individuals who are prepared to meet the challenges and opportunities of today and tomorrow.

Jasmine Kim, she/her/hers

B.S., Social Media Marketing Coordinator

Jasmine is the Social Media Marketing Coordinator at SCDC. She is currently working towards receiving a Bachelors of Art in Communications from California State University Los Angeles by Fall 2022. Jasmine joined the SCDC team first as an AmeriCorps Civic Action Fellow Undergrad Intern. She now oversees our social media platforms.

Michelle Flores, she/her/hers

B.S. In Spring 2026, Outreach Program Manager / Instructor

Michelle is the Outreach Program Manager. She started as a volunteer with SCDC and is currently an employee, eager to have an impact and create a better future for her community. She strives in providing and ensuring her community is able to access basic needs. Oversees the outreach department as well as the business aspect of the organization.

Marian Gomez, she/her/hers

B.S., Tech Project Manager / STEM Instructor

Marian is the ‘Tech Person’ and an Instructor at SCDC. She is a recent grad from Cal State LA with a BS in Computer Science. Marian joined the SCDC team first as an Americorps Civic Action Fellow Undergrad Intern. She now oversees our systems as well as being our go-to for Coding classes and the lead in our Tech Projects. She is currently the SCDC’s Robo-Warriors Lead Coach for our FLL and FTC programs.

Amber Curiel, she/her/hers

B.s. in Spring 2024, Youth Instructor

 
I am a first generation college student majoring in Biology. As student myself I want to help navigate the youth in my community to higher education specifically in the stem field. Through my experiences and connections I hope to give the students unique experiences and opportunities.
